The ICW starts just 25 miles south of Sandy Hook, NJ, and ends at Key West. The part from Portland, or where ever in Maine will have to be outside. The total mileage is just about 1500. And you will probably want to stop along the way. There are lots of boats that winter in FL and crews take them north for their owners, and the boats summer in the north and in September the crews take them south again.
