What is it exactly that costs 20 million per year? If I had a boat of that size, I would have all non-technical crew members from a country like the Philippines and pay 1/10th what a typical Ameican crew makes. Assuming no fuel is used and no taxes and no docking fees are paid, where is the “10% of the value of the boat in maintenance costs” coming from? I imagine that aside from the skipper, the engineer, and the helicopter pilot, everything else is just cleaning and cooking.

die mit den hohen aufbauten sind’s nicht. die sind nur zum gemütlich an der küste langschippern. aber ein paar von denen sind so lang (und eher flach), die könnten auch mal über den großen teich

I have seen rising sun, both here in New York and in Stockholm, Sweden. I would say that ship is pretty ugly, old and to expensive! And that was the reason the owner gave it a way.

My personal favorite is Pelorus made by Lurssen, but i also like Princess Mariana which is VERY beautiful as well. And it is build by Royal Denship which is danish – and i live in Denmark! In the summer of 2007 i worked on a RD yacht i Aarhus DK – that was fantastic, and i got to control the 82′ Open!
